About Me.
My name is Melissa and I am a certified wellness coach and fitness instructor with over 20 years of experience. I am passionate about good food and body movement and I love inspiring others to live their best lives and feel amazing in their bodies.
I always struggled with food. I was overeating, under eating or emotional eating. I had body image issues and never happy with how I looked. My pattern of binge eating had me starve myself and then gouge myself, again and again. I was miserable.
Food was my drug of choice. I would use food to push down difficult feelings and thoughts. I also used food to feel a sense of control when life got crazy.
During one of the most difficult times of my life, all of this came to a head. I was depressed, recently divorced, and unemployed. It felt like food was all I had to live for. I quickly gained 70 pounds which put me over 200 pounds.
It felt impossible to lose this weight. Every time I started, I would pick up one of my favorite binge foods & it was over.
I didn’t know where to start, but knew I had to do something. I’ll never forget my turning point. A good friend of mine said, "Is everything OK, because I almost didn't recognize you." Ouch!
I realized I had work ahead of me, not only to lose weight, but to transform the relationship I had with food, my emotions and my body. It felt daunting but I started to believe that with the right support I could do it. I joined weight loss support groups, worked with a dietitian and holistic nutritionist. I exercised as much as I could. I even signed up for a triathlon thinking that would motivate me. It took time and discipline but I eventually reached my goal weight and have maintained it for over 10 years. I combined everything I learned into my program.
I became a certified wellness coach through IPEC (Institute of Personal Empowerment Coaching) and began coaching others on their weight loss journey. My passion for fitness led me to become a certified ACE Group Fitness Instructor, teaching classes for over 10 years.
I believe that one plan does not fit everyone and that each person is unique. This is why in my program I create a personalized plan for you, together. During our sessions we will identify your goals, triggers, lifestyle and habits. I will also keep you on track and accountable with weekly check in’s and celebrate your wins.
